From Love to Launch: Notes for Rebranding

Branding a product, service or company means promoting the product by creating a distinct design that will usually represent the company and what it stands for, leaving it in the minds of its audience. Rebranding, however, means changing the market strategy of a brand through a general transformation of its identity to grow the business.

Now that we are familiar with these terms, it is safe to ask; how many times have you thought of giving your business a total revamp? How long have you backed down because you didn’t know where or how to begin? We would love to help take your brand to the next level.

More so, we would love you to take the time to read this piece before choosing to rebrand. You’re giving your brand a special gift. It should be done the right way. We understand that taking the necessary steps to rebrand can be scary. It is a step that could potentially make or break your business. So, before you jump, we advise that you take the time to do an evaluation. Ask yourself;

   • Do I need this? Or am I just bored?

   • What is the purpose of this rebrand?

   • What is my long-term strategy?

   • Am I doing a total rebrand or just touching up a few areas?

   • Who are my teammates?

With these questions answered, you can proceed to the next phase.

    #Note 1: The Who

You must know who your target audience is. If your customers are happy, why then are you rebranding? If it is an issue of getting a wider reach, the strategy might be to do better with your campaigns. Take a poll and do your analysis on what your audience thinks. That insight will better inform you on the best way to go. On the flip side, if you believe that the audience needs something fresher and statistics have shown that your competition is finding it easy to take your targets, then by all means, take that step and make it bold.

Pro Tip; At the point of the rebrand, your audience must understand the reason for this change. They have made you their home and should know that they are still in safe hands. At the point of launch, make sure to carry them along.

#Note 2: Get the right team

Putting together a team to bring your vision to reality is a vital step to take. We cannot emphasize this enough. Where vision is not known, chaos is inevitable. Your team should know what you have in mind for them to communicate it creatively. Ensure that everyone is on the same page and understands the purpose of the change. Then you are on the right path to a successful launch story.

    #Note 3: Build a new brand identity

Branding is much like giving yourself a new look. Call it a business makeover. The goal is to look better than you were before. The first step here will be to decide whether you’re changing every aspect of your brand identity or if there are specifics you would like to give a facelift. At this point, your colours, logo design, websites, brand voice and others should be reviewed and changed accordingly.

#Note 4: Online Presence Vs Marketing Collateral

As your revamp is on the go, how you are perceived should be paramount. You don’t want to leave any stone unturned. You don’t want to come off as an amateur. You want to come out with confidence and a readiness to go. As such, ensure that everything, from adverts to contents, are ready to go with the new you. Your website should be top-notch, your social media spaces should show you are back like never before, and your collaterals (pitch decks, brochures, and one-sheet fliers) should speak very loudly for themselves.

    #Note 5: Brand Position

One of the reasons a business should look to rebrand is to position itself ahead of its competition. The rebranding will give you an edge over the rest if done right. Consider doing things outside the box. It tends to spark curiosity and drive attention straight to you. So, with your rebranding, feel free to step out of your comfort zone. Create better content, use bolder colours, and run more ads. The goal is to put the new you in the faces of your target, remain there and convert them. Trust us on this one. You won’t be sorry.
